Introduction of complementary food

Introduction of complementary food

A healthy feeding plan for babies is to start introducing complementary foods between 5 months of age (at the earliest) and 7 months of age (at the latest).

There are some signs that let you know your baby is ready.

They may show interest in eating other people's food or even ask for what others are eating. It may even be mimicking chewing movements! Another sign is opening the mouth when the spoon comes or when the baby stops pushing the porridge out of the mouth with the tongue.

You should base the introduction of complementary foods on these signals, because your baby will let you know when the moment is right!
